What you'll build#
In a standard workspace with available inference, ask Sidekick to save a small task, reopen the result, and inspect the associated evidence. This uses real workspace state without needing an email connection.
For an approval walkthrough, use a workspace whose existing policy requires approval for the selected write. Approval requirements depend on that policy; an ordinary chat response alone is not execution proof.
Step 1: Open Sidekick#
Navigate to your workspace and click Sidekick in the sidebar. You'll see a chat interface — this is where you delegate tasks.
Step 2: Delegate a task#
Type a natural-language instruction:
Create a task called "Prepare investor follow-up".
Include three steps: confirm the requirements, run the acceptance checks,
and share the resulting evidence. Show me the saved task.
Sidekick selects the available task tool and follows your workspace policy. Check the saved task or returned task identifier rather than relying only on the assistant saying it finished.
Step 3: Review and approve#
If policy requires approval, inspect the pending action and its exact arguments before approving or rejecting it. Approve only the task you intended to create, then wait for its execution result. If the action is permitted automatically, the workflow may complete without this pause.
Step 4: Check the audit trail#
Ask Sidekick "show me the proof" (or open a Job and view its Activity tab) to see the audit trail. Each entry shows:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Action | The actual task tool invocation |
| Status | The recorded terminal outcome |
| Initiated by | The recorded actor |
| Approval | The applicable policy decision and any approval |
| Result | The saved task identifier |
| Cost | The metered cost, when available |
Reopen the saved task to confirm persistence. Evidence describes the action that actually ran; a proposed action or a simulated connector result does not establish external execution.
